Tid och plats: Fredag 16 mars kl. 15, på Växjö konsthall. Fritt inträde och ingen föranmälan. Samtalet kommer att ges på engelska.

Sophy Naess, trained as an oil painter, maintains an active multidisciplinary practice that includes weaving, writing, soap making and various print based projects. She exhibited her first large-scale tapestry 2016 and continues to produce wall sized weavings at the same time as creating albums of small format paintings on canvas. Naess was born in 1982 in Chicago and currently works in New Haven, CT where she is a lecturer in Painting and Printmaking at Yale.
From 2006 - 2011 she lived in Göteborg and taught at Konsthögskolan Valand. She received a BFA from Cooper Union in 2004 and an MFA from Rutgers University in 2013. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at The Middler (2017) and 321 Gallery (2016). Her work has appeared in group shows at Växjö Konsthall, Sweden; and at The New School, Hercules, Chapter NY, and Matthew Marks Gallery in New York City. She has been artist in residence at the Shandaken Project, NY; The Brooklyn Arts Council's SU CASA program at the Bay Ridge Senior Center in Brooklyn; The Range, Colorado; and Sikås Art Center, Sweden.
